DETROIT – As you’ll read below, there’s an 80 degree (27 degrees Celsius) high coming our way!

But first, we’ll see plenty of sunshine this morning, then at least partial cloud cover for part of the afternoon. Southwest winds increasing to 10 to 20 mph are ushering in milder air, and we’ll see temps respond with highs in the low 60s (16 to 17 degrees Celsius).

Today’s sunrise was at 6:40 a.m., and today’s sunset is at 8:24 p.m.

Partly cloudy for a while Friday night, then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the low 40s (6 degrees Celsius).

Weekend forecast

Saturday should start dry, so get out there early if you want to get some jogging in. Rain will develop during the day -- earlier in the southwest and latest in the northeast -- and, unbelievably, the computer models STILL have not come into agreement on the timing.

Some models (such as the HRRR, GFS and NAM) bring in the rain as early as early-to-mid-morning. Some models (such as the RPM and GRAF) bring it in midday. And some models (the ECMWF and UKMET) hold off the rain until late afternoon.

And yes, I’ve been all over those models this morning. Now you see the challenge that sometimes faces us meteorologists. I am hopeful that today’s new run of the models finally start showing some convergence in solutions.
