Are You a Working Mom? We Want To Hear Your Pandemic Story - The New York Times

sulionjaka.blogspot.com

It’s no secret being a working parent in the pandemic means doing multiple jobs at once. But for mothers, the burden may be crushing.

Time-use studies suggest women in the United States who work outside the home also do the majority of housework and child care in normal times, and even more in a crisis. Since Covid-19 began, women have lost jobs at higher rates than men. Of those who are not able to work because of child care issues, 80 percent are women.

With no end to the pandemic in sight — and with many schools in limbo — what will this mean for women’s livelihoods in the long-term? To their independence and ambition? To their ability to support their families?

The Times is looking for U.S.-based working mothers to share their experiences. Participants should be willing to keep a log of their activities — housework, homework, paid work and everything in between — and open their home (virtually) to a reporter.
