Kings' Holmes to hear from mom after fouling out in preseason originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Richaun Holmes fouled out of the Kings' preseason win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, and he's going to hear from his mother about it.
Dr. Lydecia Holmes tweeted Sunday that her son's fouls will be a topic of conversation the next time they catch up.
Yep. He fouled out. But that's ok. It's a pre season game. But I'll talk to him about those fouls. They will be cut down to a minimum hopefully in the season. He played good tonight! Proud of my boy!

Holmes did enough to make his mother proud against Portland, scoring 14 points, pulling down five rebounds and dishing a pair of assists in 25:44. The 6-foot-10 big man even knocked down a 3-pointer, building on an offseason of work to expand his game.
During his first year in Sacramento, Holmes set career highs in points (12.3), rebounds (8.1) and steals (1.0) per game. The 27-year-old also set a career high in fouls, averaging 3.8 in just over 28 minutes per night. That translates to 4.9 fouls per 36 minutes, which could put Holmes precariously close to fouling out if he maintains that pace in a bigger role.

The good news for Holmes is his mother is there to push him in the right direction, just as she did this summer when he broke quarantine in the NBA's bubble by leaving the league's campus just outside of Orlando, Fla.
If Holmes is able to cut down on the fouls this season, the Kings will know who to thank.
