Dating in San Francisco was already hard, but try adding a pandemic into the mix and you've got a near-impossible task on your hands. But love always finds a way. Despite the threat of a deadly virus, people are still going on Zoom dates, screening Tinder matches for COVID-19 symptoms and even meeting up in-person when they feel it's safe.
Still, it's undeniably one of the weirdest times in history to date. Bars aren't open, masks are required and every interaction with strangers is shrouded in a layer of fear. Have you had a FaceTime date gone wrong? Discovered too late the cute Hinge date you're meeting at Golden Gate Park is an anti-masker? Met the love of your life through an Instagram dating show? Had a fling with an AI girlfriend app?
We want to hear your pandemic dating stories: the good, the bad, and the just plain strange. Recently, the Seattle Times asked their readers for their best, worst and weirdest dates, but not specific to quarantine — so San Franciscans, don't disappoint us. Tell us about your funniest, most bizarre, or most heartwarming brushes with love in 2020 in the Bay Area.
Please send your quarantine dating stories to madeline.wells@sfgate.com and we'll share them anonymously in an upcoming story.
