MLB will impose a 2020 season, wants to hear from players by 5 p.m. Tuesday - NBC Sports Philadelphia

Andrew McCutchen has spent the last few months playing up a fictional character named Uncle Larry on social media, a play on his accidental nickname from spring training.

(Remember spring training?)

For the most part, McCutchen's Uncle Larry videos have been hilarious missives from a baseball player with no baseball to play, cracking jokes and having a blast.

On Monday evening, though, the latest upload took an interesting turn at the top.

Here's how McCutchen opened the video:

I am back, with a vengeance.

Look, owners, I don't know what y'all gotta do to get players back on the field, but you need to get 'em back on there, because I'm sick of looking at my nephew.

(Uncle Larry's nephew, of course, would be McCutchen himself.)

The video then delves into more typical Uncle Larry fodder, like short-shorts, dinosaur puns, and a perfectly slapstick ending as Uncle Larry runs off for some 40-yard dashes. It's hilarious:

But the fact that the real world is starting to bleed into what has, up to this point, been a lighthearted creative outlet for McCutchen sure makes it seem like the back-and-forth nonsense is weighing on the Phils' veteran outfielder, just like the rest of us.

On Monday evening, the Major League Baseball players association voted against the league's latest 60-game proposal:

Whether MLB commissioner Rob Manfred will mandate a season starting next month remains to be seen.

McCutchen turns 34 later this year, and would probably much rather be playing games with his remaining baseball years than watching the current argument carnage.

Right there with you, Andrew - and Uncle Larry.
