Everyone seems to have an opinion of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. For the mot part, the team’s fan base loves his potential and is as energized as we’ve seen in the past decade. The Dolphins have offered plenty of individual talent over the course of that span, but never has it been paired with a highly regarded quarterback that was considered a consensus superstar. Tagovailoa, based off his college resume, qualifies as exactly that.

The pundits seem to be widely encouraged by the potential the young quarterback has shown to this point in time, too. Some of the talking heads, who would prefer to spin controversy more than anything else, have had some bold proclamations regarding the Dolphins’ quarterback situation — but those narratives aren’t rooted in reality.

But what does the best quarterback in football think of Tagovailoa thus far? During the buildup to this weekend’s clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, Patrick Mahomes spoke with the media and was asked explicitly about his opinions about Miami’s rookie signal caller.

The feedback from Mahomes is about as gracious as you can possibly get. You could make an argument that this is largely a formality between opposing quarterbacks on any given week — but Mahomes and Tagovailoa share the same agent, so their familiarity with one another runs well beyond just seeing each other play from afar.

They’ll have a great chance to see one another play up close tomorrow afternoon  — and while their respective tests are vastly different given the quality of each defensive unit in this game, the duel between the two has plenty of potential and a prime opportunity for fireworks at Hard Rock Stadium. And, with some luck, Mahomes will have even more kind words for the Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa on the heels of a Dolphins win. That is, of course, easier said than done. But we’ll need to see how Miami chooses to attack the Chiefs and showcase their young quarterback to see how right they can prove Mahomes with his praise for the rookie.
