On Monday, Sept. 28, Midland City Council will hear an updated report by Wastewater Director Patrick Frazee about the sewer inspection work of RedZone Robotics.

In addition, council will issue the following proclamations:

• Designate the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 2 as Midland Neighbor Week.

• Designate the month of October as Cultural Awareness Month in a joint partnership with the Midland Area Community Foundation’s Cultural Awareness Coalition.

• Designate Oct. 4-10 as Fire Prevention Week to raise public awareness of fire safety.

Council will also vote to approve a resolution that would allow public right-of-way from Northwood University to downtown Midland, for a racial injustice march planned for Friday, Oct. 2.

Also on the agenda, is a budget amendment that would recognize a $100,000 donation from a Midland Area Community Foundation grant for improvements to Grove Park. The funding will be used to install the “Pine Street Promenade,” a wide-paved accessible walkway that aligns with Pine Street to the west and east of the park.

Council will also vote to approve various purchases and contracts on the consent agenda, including:

• Purchase FEMA consulting services from the Louisiana-based company, CSRS Disaster Recovery Management, LLC, to help the city during disaster recovery.

• Approve an additional $13,440 for the roof replacement project at the Municipal Service Center for a heat tape system for the gutters to prevent ice buildup in the winter, which could damage the roof.

• A $155,784 purchase for two new Dial-A-Ride buses.

• A $60,507 purchase of a three light duty, front-wheel drive vehicles, which will replace trucks from 2013. Two of them will be used by the building department and the other by the city’s assessing department.

• A $138,360 for road salt for snow and ice removal.

• A $380,000 purchase for the replacement and upgrades to a chiller, fluid cooler and chilled water pump system at Washington Woods Senior Living Community.
