Here are three recent recordings that jazz fans should check out. All are available through the usual streaming/download services:

“Budapest Concert,” Keith Jarrett

The great pianist-composer, who has performed with such fellow jazz legends as Miles Davis, Art Blakey and Charles Lloyd during a career that dates back to the ’60s, returns with another live set that is sure to please his many fans. “Budapest Concert” is the second complete show to be released from the acclaimed artist’s 2016 European tour, following “Munich 2016.” This new double-album is due out Oct. 30.

“Night Talk, The Alec Wilder Songbook,” Mark Masters Ensemble

It’s a lovely tribute to great American composer Alec Wilder, whose songs (such as “I’ll Be Around,” “While We’re Young” and “Where Do You Go?) were recorded by the legendary likes of Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and the Mills Brothers. The music was arranged by Masters and performed by the talented octet of saxophonists Gary Smulyan, Dick Oatts and Ralph Lalama; trumpeter Joe Magnarelli; trombonist John Fedchock; pianist Renee Rosnes; bassist David Wong; and drummer Carl Allen.

“Right Now! Live at the Village Vanguard,” Dayna Stephens Quartet

The East Bay-raised saxophonist sounds absolutely stellar during his headlining debut at New York City’s legendary Village Vanguard jazz club in February 2019. Stephens is skillfully accompanied in this two-disc set by pianist Aaron Parks, bassist Ben Street and jazz drummer Greg Hutchinson.
