EYE ON CLALLAM: Port Angeles council to hear school reopening plans - Peninsula Daily News

The Port Angeles City Council will hear a presentation on school reopening plans Tuesday.

Port Angeles School District Superintendent Martin Brewer and Clallam County Health Officer Dr. Allison Unthank are scheduled to speak in the virtual presentation about reopening schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other agenda items for the council meeting include:

• A proclamation to honor the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

• Port Angeles Police Department employee recognition.

• A second reading on a proposed budget amendment.

• A grant application to the state Recreation Conservation Office for Race Street improvements.

• A resolution authorizing the redemption of electric revenue bonds prior to maturity.

• An interlocal agreement with Clallam County to receive federal funding utility, rental and mortgage relief during COVID-19.

County commission

Clallam County commissioners will consider an employment contract with County Administrator Rich Sill in their 10 a.m. meeting Tuesday.

• A bid opening for Laird Road improvements.

Discussion items include:

• An agreement with Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) for the operation of the COVID-19 Social Distancing Center.

• An agreement with the city of Port Angeles for residential rent, mortgage and utility assistance during COVID-19.

• An agreement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula for the provision of childcare assistance.

• An agreement with Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic to provide medical services and case management.

• An amended agreement with the state Military Department for the Emergency Operations Center.

• A resolution declaring the temporary closure of East Beach Road.

• A land donation agreement with Green Crow Timber to acquire right-of-way for the Olympic Discovery Trail west of the Elwha River.

• An agreement with the Federal Highway Administration for the final phase of construction of the Spruce Railroad Trail on the north shore of Lake Crescent.

• State Department of Natural Resources priorities.

• An update on the Clallam-Jefferson County Virtual Job Fair.

• A resolution appointing members to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

Board of Health

The Clallam County Board of Health will hear a COVID-19 update and discuss racism as a public health concern at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Housing Authority

The Peninsula Housing Authority Board will discuss procedure for board member selections at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
