Joe Ramos, a past district governor of Rotary District 5330, will speak about his career with NASA when the Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club holds an online meeting via Zoom 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 16.

Ramos, who was born to American parents in Manila, Philippines, grew up in San Francisco and received a bachelor’s degree in physics in 1968 from the University of San Francisco. He received a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California in 1982 and a master’s degree in management from Stanford University in 1982.
Ramos retired in 2001 as associate center director of the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center in California, according to a news release. In that position, he was managing research, development, test and evaluation of next-generation aerospace technology.
His career included engineering, scientific research and management for NASA, the Pentagon’s Office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
He also served 10 years as an adjunct professor at several California universities, teaching engineering and business management.
Ramos and his wife, Jeanne, moved to Lake Arrowhead in 2003 and joined Rotary in 2004. He was president of the Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead 2007-08 and assistant governor of the mountain clubs in 2008-10.
He was chairman of the Rotary District Conference in San Diego in 2009 and has served in other positions and on many district committees, in addition to serving as district governor.
