Can a deathcore band really do justice to one of brutal death metal's all-time classics? Thy Art is Murder just answered that question with their new cover of Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face."
The rendition cover is part of a three-way split between Thy Art is Murder, Fit for an Autopsy and Malevolence calle The Aggression Sessions. The project features one original song and one cover from each band, with Fit for an Autopsy taking on At the Gates' "Under a Serpent Sun" and Malevolence doing Anastacia's "Left Outside Alone."
Thy Art is Murder vocalist CJ McMahon really delivered on this version of "Hammer Smashed Face", sticking closely to Chris Barnes' original guttural style. The rest of the band play it pretty faithful as well, even capturing a similar guitar tone and drum sound to the original, with a little extra modern polish added.
