Darryl Demos was elected May 25 as a director of Bankwell Financial Group Inc. Formerly the executive vice president of Curinos and general manager at Novantas, Demos holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College and master’s from the Stern School of Business at New York University. His “vast experience as an advisor to the banking industry, coupled with his technology and financial experience, make him an ideal addition to our board,” Bankwell CEO Chris Gruseke said in a statement.

The New Canaan Housing Authority’s eviction of a tenant in a Millport Avenue apartment is heading to trial June 30, Connecticut Judicial Branch records show. The agency had said that following “several warnings” from her landlord, a tenant there “continues to allow her dog to urinate and defecate on her deck, throw the feces off of her balcony, and fail to clean up after this dog creating a foul odor and significant sanitation safety and health threats.” The tenant denied many of the accusations in her response, saying in part that the dog in question was re-homed when the landlord communicated its concerns.

Finally, volunteers worked for this Memorial Day to clear and lay flags at New Canaan’s Maple Street Cemetery. Founded in 1825 by Ezra Benedict, the cemetery was home to town founders and at least one military hero, Corporal Jonathan Ayres, who served in the 9th Regiment, under Captain Mead, during the Revolutionary War, the volunteers say.
