Students very often face a common problem after university. They do not know what they want to be and what to do next. Someone simply goes into freelancing, and becomes a paper writer or manager, for example. And someone goes to work not by specialty only for the sake of a good salary.

And all because we initially pay attention not to those things that we need and are important. And we listen to the advice of others.

Which things are worth attention, and which are better to discuss and test in practice.

  1. “Choose subjects you know best.”

Students often choose subjects that are easy for them – it is easier to prepare, and therefore, to get high grades and enter the budget will also be easy. But often it turns out that the subjects chosen by the graduate do not allow them to pass to the specialties the student is interested in, and the number of directions decreases dramatically. Do not be afraid to choose difficult exams! Everyone has the opportunity to prepare, the result will only depend on you.

This year I met many graduates who decided not to continue their studies at the university. And all because they chose the wrong subjects. So carefully study the conditions of admission and do not be afraid of anything.

  1. “An 80+ exam is a great score!”

This phrase can often be heard from teachers and tutors. But be careful! I don’t want to scare future graduates, but even a 95+ on every exam is sometimes not enough to get into a dream university. When I saw a 96 in history, I was very happy. I was proud of myself. But then I realized that the real value of my score could only be found out upon admission. It turned out that my score of 272 points was not enough for admission to Moscow and St. Petersburg. Yes, and in his own city admission was in doubt.

  1. “And what do you need the night for?!”

The exam period was the most emotional for me in all my years of schooling. Test scores and quizzes were causing me a storm of emotions, my whole life revolved around exams and admission. Stupid mistakes and inattention led to tears and disappointment in myself. In the pursuit of maximum scores I began experimenting with a sleep schedule: I woke up at 5:00, did my assignments from my tutor, and stayed up until 00:00 in the hope of getting as much time as possible.

Don’t do that! Sleep is one of the most important components of success in the exam. It is through him that information is absorbed in our memory. Now, having already entered the university, I cannot always answer the question about my score, all my worries are in the past, and the exams themselves are forgotten like a bad dream.

I would like future graduates in this pursuit of scores and a place in a top university, in the first place, to not forget about themselves and their health.

  1. “You’ll never pass the exam!”

That, alas, is what some teachers say. Often, in front of my eyes, the guys give up their nerves from the perpetual demands and the amount of knowledge they need to memorize in a short time. Tears became a way to relieve emotional stress and get through this difficult time when everyone around you is expecting you to get results.

And in general, often students with poor grades pass the exams better than excellent students, as stress tolerance plays a big role on the exam itself.

  1. “Get ready, we gave so much money!”

Of course, the exam period is just as important and nerve-racking for parents as it is for graduates. But the exams often become a competition: exam scores help determine a child’s position in the rankings of other children. During this period, parents forget about the most important thing – the relationship with the child. And do they really want to waste time on arguments and constant recriminations? After all, children really need support during exam preparation.

I kept an “Exam diary,” in which I noted the number of hours spent on preparation. It helped my mom keep track of the results of all the tests. Tell your parents about your successes (and failures!). This will help prevent a lot of conflict.

  1. “There are cameras everywhere, don’t even think about moving!”

Teachers and tutors have different ways of building up the atmosphere before an exam: some talk about cameras, and some talk about meticulous observers. As I walked to my first exam, I went through various fears in my mind, trying to calm myself down and put myself in the right frame of mind. At the entrance to the station we were politely asked to take out prohibited items, and then allowed to look into the auditorium where the exam would take place. My first thought about the exam procedure was, “Is this really it?” We’ve been intimidated so often by multiple cameras and removal from the exam that we’ve put our own restrictions that don’t exist and don’t exist.

Don’t get yourselves worked up! Everyone has different admissions, different exam experiences, so don’t believe everything they tell you and write to you before the exams.

The exam is an opportunity to try something new, to change your life a little bit. I wish that both parents and teachers would not exaggerate the importance of this stage in the life of students, treat children with understanding and calmness and support them in every way in their new endeavors.
