BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls.
All calls may not be reported.
• A civil matter involving a landlord serving a resident an eviction notice in the 1100 block of Catherine Street was reported.
• A larceny was reported in the 100 block of Ives Street. A realtor had some signs stolen over the weekend. There are no suspects.
• Malicious destruction of property was reported in the 300 block of North Warren Avenue. The bandshell was spray painted.
• A property damage crash was reported in the 600 block of Maple Street.
• Gunshots were heard in Highland View Cemetery. A caller was told by students of the after school program they saw a man with a gun. The subject then jumped the fence and left in a cream or tan van. The area was checked with canvasses done at residences. The cemetery is located in the county and police advised that if they located anything of substance, they would notify the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
• A dog at large complaint was made in the 700 block of Rose Street. The complainant was walking their dog when they came upon a small dog that was off its chain and appeared to be injured. Upon arrival on scene, the dog appeared to be elderly and blind and was limping. After owners of the residence were identified they pulled into the driveway as contact was being attempted via telephone. The dog was left outside for four hours while they went out for dinner. No criminal action occurred.
• A well-being check was performed in the 500 block of West Bridge Street. Contact was made with a mother who allowed officers to check on the children who were fine. Contact was then made with the complainant to advise. The complainant was upset the children were sleeping in the same room.
