So, Valentine’s Day is right arond the corner and you want to turn up a properly romantic soundtrack for the occasion. Yet, you don’t want to rely on the tried and trusted slow jams of years past, but prefer something a bit more modern. In that case, may we suggest adding these more recent romantic tunes to the mix. All of the songs were released in the last 12 months.

“Body Language”

One of pop music’s premier power couples — rapper Big Sean and R&B star Jhené Aiko — turn up the heat in this cut that also features Ty Dolla Sign. The tune hails from off Big Sean’s fifth studio album, “Detroit 2,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after being released in September.

“The 1”

Feeling a little nostalgic for a former flame on Feb. 14? Hey, it happens. So, go ahead and remember what was — and think about what might have been — with this achingly sad love song off Taylor Swift’s fantastic “Folklore” album.

“Love Again”

So, enough of the sad stuff. It’s time to bounce back with Dua Lipa, who delivers a terrific rebound anthem with this hopeful disco-pop gem from her second studio album, “Future Nostalgia.” The singer was reportedly going through her own tough breakup at the time of the recording — and the resulting song could be highly therapeutic for anyone doing the same.

“Comfortable”

Yet another amazing offering from Vallejo’s own H.E.R., who mesmerizes with her whisper-soft and soulfully southing vocal delivery on this number that fans can find on the soundtrack to the 2020 romantic film “The Photograph.”

“Miracle of Love”

We’ll bring our short playlist to a close with one of the sweetest love songs we’ve heard in many a moon. The song is delivered with such warmth by Chris Tomlin, who was inspired to write the tune after learning that — surprise! — he and his wife were expecting another child. It was released on his latest holiday offering, “Miracle of Love: Christmas Songs of Worship,” but it’s worth turning up in any season.
