During the COVID pandemic, holidays are looking a little different than usual and Thanksgiving is no exception.
Gov. Charlie Baker and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is discouraging traveling this year on one of the most traveled holidays of the year.
“Thanksgiving is a time when many families travel long distances to celebrate together. Travel increases the chance of getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19,” the CDC’s website stated in September. “Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others.”
Still, many are weighing up their options about what this means for seeing family and friends this year. Tripadvisor found that a majority of Americans are still planning on traveling on Thanksgiving despite rising cases of COVID-19.
JetBlue even recently announced it’s offering at-home COVID-19 testing to travelers in time for the holiday.
Other options include socially distanced gatherings, Zoom calls or delivering family recipes to loved ones nearby.
