Check out these four Louisiana-based podcasts:
- "The Girlfriends": It’s 1995 and Carole Fisher, who now lives in Covington and is the host of the podcast, is a high-flying divorcee looking for love in Las Vegas. It’s slim pickings in the medical community in which she works. But then Bob Bierenbaum comes to town. Bierenbaum is a plastic surgeon who flies planes and speaks several languages. Her mom loves that he’s Jewish, but there’s something off about him. He’s perfect on paper but he’s quick to anger. Also, he never talks about his ex-wife, who it turns out, is missing and presumed dead.
- "Louisiana Anthology Podcast": Bruce R. Magee and Stephen Payne began the Louisiana Anthology Podcast way back in early 2012. They release new episodes every Saturday, and the podcasts last around an hour. At this point, the duo has released more than 500 podcasts discussing the literature and culture of Louisiana.
- "Louisiana Eats": A radio show for people who cook and people who love to eat well, hosted by Poppy Tooker. In each program, listeners join the host as she meets people who produce, cook and eat the foods Louisianans enjoy, exploring kitchens and stores, farms and waterways where favorite foods are produced and prepared.
- "The Memory Whisperer": Baton Rouge's Dana Territo hosts a podcast about living with people with Alzheimer's and dementia. At least 55 million people worldwide are believed to be living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Territo presents thoughtful conversations with topics ranging from research to the power of music, from perspectives from a male caregiver to learning how to deal with everyday stresses, and recognizing the needs of the affected individual by using the “Trip back in Time” model.
