Has Climate Change Upended Your Life? We Want to Hear from You. - The New York Times

sulionjaka.blogspot.com

We are looking for the stories of Americans who have lost loved ones, homes, or livelihoods, or who have seen their communities altered by climate change.

With the increase in extreme weather and natural disasters, the impact of climate change on American life is now more palpable than ever. More than 60 percent of Americans say it has already affected their communities, according to the Pew Research Center.

For many, these changes come with a new kind of mental burden — grief for a vanishing world.

How does it feel to lose a home in a wildfire and know that more are coming? What is it like to mourn a loved one who died in a 100-year flood? When a generations-old family farm loses a year’s crop in a single storm, how does it affect the farmer’s livelihood? And how does one comprehend the subtler and more gradual changes — quieting forests, declining snowfalls and emptying lakes?

If your life has changed because of climate change, we want to hear from you. We invite you to submit your story using the form below and a photo or video that reflects what has changed in your life. These may be portraits of a loved one who you have lost, favorite places that have changed, everyday objects that are significant to you.

If you send us your story, a Times reporter or editor may contact you to learn more.
