Editor’s note: The following is a list of the board, commission and council meetings that are scheduled in the coming week around Humboldt County.

Fortuna Planning Commission

When: Second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Where: City Hall, 621 11th St., Fortuna

• The commission will hold a public hearing to consider a recommendation to the city council for a zoning amendment of six parcels from residential estates to residential single family and a general plan amendment from residential very low to residential low.

Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District

When: The second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.

• The district board will consider providing direction regarding reopening board meetings to allow in-person participation from the public.

• The district board will consider a resolution to amend the salary schedule of management employees. The resolution includes two already approved $1 bumps in pay after the first lease payments of the Nordic Aquafarms and RTI Infrastructure broadband cable landing projects.

• The district board will consider increasing a $56 million grant application for a new heavy lift terminal by increasing the contract by $20,000.

Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District

When: Second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m.

• The district board will receive updates on the Trinidad Rancheria feasibility update and the Nordic Aquafarms project.

• The district board will discuss the McNamara and Peepe site. The discussion will include ground water sampling results. The board may direct staff to draft a response letter to the Department of Toxic Substances Control.

• The district board will discuss the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors’ declaration of drought emergency.

Humboldt County Board of Supervisors

When: Every Tuesday except for the fifth Tuesday of a month at 9 a.m.

Where: The meeting will be available through Access Humboldt Channel 10, through Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/97637777152, and on the board’s website at https://humboldt.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.

• Under its consent agenda, the board may agree to extend the county’s agreement with the Humboldt County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for three years.

• Under its consent agenda, the board may approve an amendment to the county building code to implement a new frequency of permits issued for owner-built accessory dwellings.

• The board may review a proposed American Rescue Plan (ARPA) spending plan and approve a supplemental budget of $53,000 in an ARPA budget unit to fulfill a request from the Department of Health and Human Services.

• The board will receive a verbal report from the Humboldt County Drought Task Force regarding local conditions surrounding the ongoing drought.

Northern Humboldt School District Governing Board

When: Second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Where: District Office conference room, 2755 McKinleyville Ave, McKinleyville. The meeting will also be available via Zoom at https://nohum-org.zoom.us/j/96425450462.

• The board will convene in closed session for a public employee performance evaluation of its superintendent at 5:30 p.m., ahead of the regular meeting.

• The board will receive updates on various items, including bonds, racial equity efforts and LCAP plans.

• The board may approve to recommend a declaration of need for fully qualified educators for the 2021-2022 school year.

Trinidad City Council

When: Second (and fourth) Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Where: The meeting will be available through a Zoom link provided by the city at the council’s calendar page, at http://trinidad.ca.gov/calendar.

• Under its consent agenda, the council may approve the city’s water shortage contingency plan. The document was revised at the council’s previous meeting.

• The council will discuss a recommendation to request the Humboldt Bay Municipal Water consider Trinidad in its waterline extension project and analysis.

• The council will discuss recommendations from the local trails committee regarding signage placement.
