RED BLUFF — The Tehama County Board of Supervisors is set to hear a report on the state of local infrastructure during Tuesday’s meeting.

Public Works Director Jim Simon will give the presentation to a board that is expected to go over what needs fixing throughout the county.

In this case, there will be a focus on three of the most recent condition assessment’s done by the Tehama County Public Works Department, according to the agenda report related to the presentation.

The two actions requested of the board will be to accept the report from Simon and accept the recommendation to maintain half of the roads of Tehama County’s jurisdiction and 75 percent of the bridges.

“The board may choose not to accept the report and associated recommendation, in which case, Public Works would submit a revised recommendation for the board’s consideration,” the agenda report said. “Alternatively, the county would not be allowed to use the modified approach for reporting infrastructure assets and would be required to depreciate infrastructure assets.”

During last Tuesday’s meeting, Simon gave a presentation on upcoming road work that is expected to be conducted over the next two years.

Other business

The Tehama County Probation Department is looking at a storage shed project and will be asking that the board adopt a finding that the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act, or CEQA. The department also will be asking for acceptance of the project plans.

There will be no fiscal impact as a result of the project because it consists of using recycled materials and labor will be performed by inmate crews. The building will be constructed on a concrete slab that is already in place. This also means there will be no bidding process.

Animal Care Center Manager Christine McClintock will be requesting that the board approve grant funding of $5,417 from California Animal Welfare Funders Collaborative.

The Tehama County Board of Supervisors meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 727 Oak St. in Red Bluff. Meetings are free and open to the public. However, certain guidelines are in place due to the pandemic. The number of members from the public is limited and all participants must wear masks.
