STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Hey, Staten Island, it’s been a Hot Minute but #fyiSI is ready to hit the streets of Staten Island again!
Like so many of you, I’ve been working remotely (with two kids, so solidarity to those of you who know what it’s been like) for the last 15 months.
But coronavirus (COVID-19) rates are low, I’m vaccinated, and I’m ready to go out and see what’s going on across the borough.
Most importantly, I’m ready to answer your questions -- after all, that’s what #fyiSI is all about!
This Tuesday, June 8, at 4 p.m. I’m going to crash the Facebook Live Hot Zone segment with my co-workers Mark Stein and Tom Wrobleski, and I want to hear directly from my fellow Staten Islanders about what’s been bugging you.
Pot holes? Illegal dumping? Neighborhood parking wars (I know there’s no shortage of those)?!
Is there construction going on in your neighborhood and you’re not sure what it is? What has your City Council, Senate, or Assembly representative been doing?
I want to hear from all of you!
Submit your questions Tuesday at 4 p.m. on the Staten Island Advance Facebook page during the #fyiSI-Hot Zone live video, email fyi@siadvance.com or KDalton@siadvance.com.
Put “fyiSI” in the email subject and include your name, neighborhood and contact phone number.
Can’t wait to hear from all of you and answer your questions!

#fyiSI -- HERE’S THE POINT
When #fyiSI launched in October 2018, the Advance received dozens of questions from readers about all things Staten Island.
Now we’re continuing to provide answers and are asking you again to ask us anything, Staten Island -- and we mean anything.
Through #fyiSI, I’m going to answer all of your burning questions -- with the occasional help of my co-workers -- about the borough with 479,458 residents that we all call home.
Some of the questions we’ve received so far include:
- How can we ask for a stop sign to be added?
- What happened to my favorite restaurant?
- Is that a mobile speed camera?
- Why is the Department of Transportation doing construction on my block?
Now I’ ready to tackle them all, and I’m looking for more questions, Whatever it is, I’ll answer it.
You might be wondering how #fyiSI differs from the average story you already read in the Staten Island Advance or on SILive.com.
We’re not stepping away from the traditional news article, but instead adding social media elements like Facebook live, Instagram stories, Twitter polls, and other multimedia to help us reach you.
We’ll also do a lot of reporting on site.
Questions should include your name, neighborhood of residence and contact information, and can be emailed to fyi@siadvance.com or kdalton@siadvance.com.
